Darted Out

At any thoroughbred stud farm, changing paddocks is part of the daily routine. It keeps the horses healthy, giving them fresh pasture to graze on. But the process isn’t always easy. Horses can get restless during the move—some may bolt, run, or buck, filling the air with nervous energy.

On this day, the pregnant mares were scheduled to be shifted around brunch time. Having spent years around horses, I knew what was coming. They would grow excited, and in that excitement, I might find a moment worth capturing. So I readied my camera and waited.

As the gates opened, the mares sprang into motion. The stillness of the paddock suddenly burst into life—hooves thundered across the ground, dust rose, and manes and tails streamed in the wind. Even in their restlessness, there was beauty. Their gallop carried both power and grace, every stride alive with energy.

I pressed the shutter at just the right moment. What I captured wasn’t just movement, but a glimpse of pure equine majesty. It was one of those fleeting scenes that remind you why horses have always held such a special place in the human heart.
